A Traditional Song and Dance

To the left is a traditional song and dance of the Ashanti people. This takes place during the traditional Kete Dance, and has three distinct parts. This is "the music of the usual drum ensemble, pipe interludes and free accompaniment, and a vocal counterpart of the pipes" ( Nketia, Joseph Hansen Kwabena). However, as time has progressed the pipes and the voice accompaniment have been lost, as is the case for this video. In this video, drums and a bell are used to craft the music of the kete.
